Default 07 EFI Throttle response

Being this is the first ATV I have really ridden very much I thought that it was just the way it responds. The throttle response on my 07 Sportsman 800 EFI is very jerky from a stop.. If you try to ease the throttle on, it doesn't move slowly, it lurches forward. That makes it hard to slowly "crawl" over obstacles.
My son who has been riding for some time, and rides a Kawi KFX 700 tells me it shouldn't do that. Is it the EFI, or is it something that a clutch kit would help.

the efi should be very smooth(for the most part) and would seem to be a belt or clutch issue? does it do the same thing in either low, or high range? mine is jerky in low range if im not really trying to slow my squeezing the throttle. what is the clutch engagement while in high?

Getting over back surgery for a while, I'll re-post when I can ride again and check the RPMs when it grabs.

Just a shot in the dark here...Has it sat for a while...You said you just had back surgery...Just wondering because I had mine sit for a while in my garage with the parking break set...Well when I went out to ride it, the brake was hanging up....Does it feel like it's holding back when you give it throttle...Just a thought...probably not the answer though...

No, been this way since I bought it new. Just thought that is how it responds. My son keeps telling me that it just doesn't feel right to him.

in high range when you slowly throttle it it will take off just fine w/ out being jerky. i too had brakes kind of hang up as well as the clutches hand up a little after sitting for long periods of time. but it usually only will do this once or twice until i use it a little. maybe this is what he is feeling?
