Tracks and Trucks
#11
Polaris used to make them for the 6x6 that includes up to 2008. Pure Polaris : 6x6 Tracks) But the suspension is now two IRS setups that cycle more independently from each other. The previous setup was two solid axles that cycled in a more linear fashion. Not sure if the old system would work. There may be another company that makes seperate tracks for each wheel.

Here's a link but only says they fit to 2008.

I've seen both a single track- lookes like they plated the first axle- and another where it was a long single track that tied into both wheels. Looks cool with a ton of surface area. At this point I'm also considering an Argo. So hard to find the right fit but they have a very low ground pressure...back to hauling, this link was posted on another thread: UTV Transport - UTV Guide although geared to UTV's it's good info.

The thing about the Argos and other 6 and 8 wheel drives is that they are slow. I think top speed is around 25 mph. With either the Ranger 6x6 or the Big Boss 800 you can go at least 50+. Just a thought.

Good point- like I said, so hard to get one that does it all. That's why I keep coing back to a 4 wheeler with tracks or even maybe a utv with tracks. Same ground pressure and more versitile- other than they sink but really, if I need a boat I will use the one I already have!

Run like "H" from the tracks over tires set up. Unsatisfactory Perf. Tried them, maybe ok in desert or open prairie but not much more. Tends to derail with sticks and stones from trail or bush use.

Something to consider is a straight up 4wheeler with 11" wheels on all fours with basically no air pressure. If the ground has any bit of give it should float pretty well and be very easy on the earth in 4 wheel drive.
How much money are you willing to part with for this? Figure a side-by-side will run you at least 11K, plus about 4K for tracks and mounting hardware. Are you willing and able to remove the tracks each when you're not hunting? Riding on tracks in dry dirt is not the most fun thing you can do with your time.
I'm thinking you'll want to ride it in the off hunting season. You many end up liking the ride more than you think and wanted to go on some trail rides, other than just for hunting in the swamps. However, I do know some folks that look at ATVs and the like as strick utility vehicles only. They're not for playing around......sad, boring souls they are.
