I have an 08 500 touring and the brake pedal locks them up every time - just wish the pedal was in a better position for those sliding braking turns.

It sounds like there's something wrong with your linkage.

there really is no linkage- it's all hydraulic, and practically brand new. I'll have to bleed it and see what happens. The fluid is full.

Foot brake on my Scrambler is next to useless.
Even after new pads and master cylinder.

i'll tell ya,i have a 01 scram, and can never stop that leadsled but,the 97 trailblazer is like a caddy can stop nicely, caliper is on the brake rotor attached to the trans output shaft,,,,touch the front lever, rear foot lever is attached directly to the rear caliper,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,priceless.

They will lock up, but you have to pretty much stand on it and put all your weight on it.

I think a shorter lever would make the situation worse. Less lever means you would have to push even harder.

I've been thinking on it as I'm reading these posts and am leaning towards maybe throwing a new set of pads at it. Maybe the old ones are glazed?

Can I hear one person say the rear brakes work good on an 06 sportsman with the pedal? It is a heavy quad.

Man I'm ready for a 850 XP.

I have the same bike and had the same problem. New pads, a little more fluid, and a little bleeding made all the difference... but like somone said before, they don't stop like my sport bike did... thats expected

yessir must be not enough friction surface or hydraulic pressure cause,i just touch the lead sled while i'm pushing and it stops, jack it up, just touch lever and both front and rear cannot budge.
