Default 02 Scrambler Problem. Help?

Hi there. I'm new to the site and it looks like there are a lot of helpful people on here. I've got a 400 scrambler 4x4 that was running ok a couple weeks ago. Tried to start the other day and nothing. My electric starter has never worked since i bought it 2 years ago. Pull start has always worked fine. I assume it still needs a good battery because last time i had a problem starting hooked up the charger and it pull started fine. I checked the spark and it has plenty (hand slipped as I pulled the cord and shocked the crap out of me.) I read a thread that said something about opening crank case drain?? Not real sure what that would do for me. Checked the air box and its good. Tried a shot of starting fluid and nothing. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you could unhook the fuel line at the carb. and see if it is getting fuel there, drain the fuel bowl also. it has no fuel pump so it's all gravity fed ,so the fuel should come at a steady stream.try some more ether..........it's a bite when you gotta pull that rope and troubleshoot too.

I checked the fuel line downstream of the filter and have plenty of gas. Planning on pulling the bowl tomorrow after I get off work. I think I found a bigger problem after if pulled the air filter assembly. I found what was left of a rubber seal and bushing twisted around the shaft going from the transmission to rear half of the clutch assembly. I don't think this should affect it running but I'll have to address this as well. And yeah after 15 or 20 pulls I'm ready to go on to the next project for a while.

So i couldn't wait for morning and went out to drain bowl. Done. Still no start with starting fluid. Unhooked gas line at carb turned on gas valve and plenty of gas. Got to looking around some more and found the front motor mount wasn't even hooked up. Got to looking and this would put some misalignment to the clutch which may have led to the rubber seal getting tore up from the rear of the clutch assy to the input of the transmission not sure. I'll get a new nut and spark plug tomorrow and try again. Want to get it running at least before i tear into that seal. Maybe just maybe they make a split seal for that ( That would be to cool, and not my luck).

So i fixed the motor mount and it will start now but running rough. Not sure what the heck is up with this thing. Anyone have any insight into this rear seal situation?? I'm thinking about getting it running decent and getting rid of it. Maybe go with something a little newer.
