Default XP Headlight mounts

I have had an XP for about three months now and last week my wife and I went for a little ride and when we got back I noticed the headlight on her 550 XP looked broken... Come to find the headlight had came out of the clip but was still hanging in there because of the other side. When I looked at the lights on mine there was a rubber band set up that helps hold the light in.... The problem I have is now after looking, ALL of my rubber bands need to be replaced!!! so I go to the local polaris dealer and bought a dozen of these and it cost me $15 BUCKS!!! I hope the new ones last a little longer than three friggin months

You had me worried but the parts list shows my 850 bumper lights are bolted in. Rubber bands for the 550 must have been an import from China.

My 850 has bands too, but I think they are in place to be the weak point if the headlight is hit by something. The band lets go so the light falls out instead of being broken by the impact. Bentarrow, we are talking about the standard headlights, not the LE's bumper mounted PIAA lights.

Yes I was talking about the standard headlights but I only looked at a parts list which showed a bolt, nut and a bar coming from the rear of the light the bolt goes through, it didn't show rubber bands as a part. It stopped raining and snowing here today so I will check it on the 850, be a good idea to have some bands if the light can fall out.
