If you get the synthetic rope, make sure your fairlead rollers are smooth and burr free before installing the new rope. Either buy a new set or do like I did by taking each roller and sanding them down to like new condition. I put the mounting bolts in them tightly and then sinched the bolt down into the chuck of a drill press. Makes sanding effortless and only takes a couple minutes to have them looking brand new again. Or use a standard drill mounted in a bench vise. Very important to do this or you could risk chaffing the rope under pressure.

master pull sells chaf gaurds which i just bought it will protect it from chafing if you are pulling over rocks or logs
