Default U Joint, CV Joint Questions.

I have an 08 Sportsman 800, recently bought some extremely off set rims and put ITP 589 on it, I know its more likely to go thru parts now, just wondering what brands would be suitable for this setup, for u joints, cv joints, and if someone knows of what else I might watch for while riding??

if you put a huge lift kit you might have cv issues which some have used gorilla axles as replacements. as far as u joints, haven't heard to many people needing to replace them. depnding on the tire size you may want to add clutch parts or at least use low range more when your working the bike harder like in heavy mud or towing heavy loads. imo

I have an old Trail Boss 250 and put stock sized Mud lites on it in the fall and so far i`ve replaced 2 CV joints I was told my quad didn`t have enough power to tare them out. I guess its all in your riding style weather or not they will last. Every time i ride my quad it is put to the max

How much did you go up in tire size? If only an inch or two you should not have cv issues and u-joints should be ok also. Keep an eye on wheel bearings, tierod ends, front ball joints, and the roll pins in your front/rear prop shafts(replaced mine with shear bolts). Big ditto on using low range! It will add big time to belt life. Clutch kit is also a great idea.

I stayed with stock height on the tires, there just an inch wider on front and back, for that part, I just did not know with the wheels being out that much further if it would cause a lot of extra stress or not, I havent lifted it, but did manage to bend both tie rods last night.. Going to have to change my riding style a bit to get used to the width on the tires and avoid trees.

Shouldn't see any issues then with stock size even if they are a little wider(except that tree thing-lol). Cheapest place to get parts is ebay!

Yeah, i have new tie rods coming already, will prolly get some spares too, Thanks for all the info.

EPI offers almost everything you are looking for. Tie rod ends, u joints, shafts, and especially clutch kits. With the tires you are running you will see more ware and tear because of driver more then anything . You shouldnt need to upgrade anything until its worn out.

Yeah, I know most of it will be driver wear, but thats what I bought the wheeler for to be used, nothing wrong with that. I have the epi heavy duty springs on the shocks they made a huge difference. The only place i found that sold the tie rods though was from polaris themselves or polaris outlets.
