Hey I just wanted to thank all of you guys who responded to my 500 HO and 550 Price Check post. My friend was very grateful for the information and it helped him do some hard bargaining with his local dealer. He got a new 550 XP in camo and is very happy with it so far.

I got a chance to ride it a bit this evening when i stopped by to visit and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Solid, comfortable, steers easy even without power steering, handles great and has perfectly adequate power. I did notice quite a bit of metallic mechanical noise from the engine but I suppose that is normal for a single. I was also reading his manual and it indicated that he should use high gear for speeds over 7 mph. Is that the fastest he should go in low range? I thought the new XPs could safely operate up to 30mph or so in low range? heck my old 95 magnum will safely do 15 or 20 in low range.

Anything he should be aware of with his new 550XP?

no he can go faster then 7 mph for sure. glad your buddy got the deal he wanted. now you just need him to join the forum. or does he not have computer access?
