Don't forget they are not moving the HQ it Mexico. Lots and lots of people earn a quality living from Polaris and may keep their jobs in the long run due to this decision (you'd like to think so anyway). It's not like Stanley Tools that moved their HQ to Panama or Bermuda or some crap like that so they don't have to pay taxes. I never buy their junk anyway.
Not true! Polaris stated that they would still be making money if they kept the plant open. This is just plain greed on there part.

So they are fixing the overhead...

It's really gonna hurt the stock holders when no one buy there Mexican made ATV's! they have to look past the $$$ and realize what the are doing to 500 AMERICAL FAMILIES!! This is pure greed!!!

Sounds like PURE BS! I can see Polaris doing all the things like mentioned in the other thread with shortening their stock loads, etc. SMART MOVE! But I won't ever get on board with Xing our American workers and building the plant in MEXICO!

Like MH said, at least Japan has showed its work pride with good workmanship with quality products and bringing manufacturing here to the states. Yes, Japanese companies still profit but when it hires our people, it gives back to us. I haven't seen that yet from MEXICO!

Regards,

R'

it saddens me to read this type of news, due to the fact that, i'm a lil older and grew up in the time period where everything we purchased was made in U.S.A.
i still believe it holds true ,that if you want it to last and for fit and finish, buy american.I take great pride that my polaris has made in u.s.a. stamped all over it.
Even theses great economists that they interview on cnn agree that we,as a country, need a manufacturing base to survive.
These 500-600 people that are employed at that plant, what about the people they support, day care centers, grocers, taverns, carpenters, schools. less money all the way around the circle.

What part of what I said is "Not True!". Please elaborate on the falsehood.

It's capitalism with a capital C. They can do anything they want, whenever they want. I'm not saying it's the moral or correct thing to do, just stating the facts. It's a free country. I don't believe it's pure "greed". I believe it's a business decision to stay competitive into the future and to make more money. Making money is why they're in business.

Will I buy another one....depends on what kind of competition they have in a couple years. If the new 2012 Grizzly blows the future Polaris away, not likely. If they are similar, I'll buy American. It's still an American company and the profits come home and keep the rest of the manufacturing facilities in healthy condition and pay dividends.

Although I can agree somewhat with your train of thought FunRide, The 2nd biggest factor for ditching my PoPo loyalty is where the stuff is going to be made. I don't know how much experience you have with made in Mexico products. But in my book it is equal to the early 80's made in Korea junk. (i.e. Hyundai ) Quality control has been one of Polaris's biggest Achilles heals. With the manufacturing moving to Mexico, do you think it will get better? Another way to look at it, would you buy a Polaris ATV if it where manufactured in China and just sported the Polaris logo and price?? Well as for me, I won't

When you are already making money, a Minnesota based company to begin with and Wisconsin is your neibor, you do not screw them by closing a plant that makes you money, go down South to Mexico, pay the workers pennies to the dollars the American workers were making, then say that it is ok. We are trying to help. They screwed this one BIG TIME. I hope they lose half there market share on this mess! I am Done with Polaris until they start doing the RIGHT THING! Good thing Cat makes there motors in St. Cloud for a majority of ther quads and is not moving it To Mexico. I would be done with them if they did! As of right now, they are the only option!

not with some models using Suzuki engines! IMO Can-Am is as american as anyone tho to me it really does not matter as Co like Toyota and Yamaha employ as many American workers as any other MFG out there!
