I just bought a 1990 Polaris trail boss 250 2x4 and I was wondering y it doesn't have reverse/neutral, there's no lever or anything, it only goes forwards, and it has no electric start?

Just sounds like some one removed it and left the transmission in gear.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse It had two different style shifters depending on build date.

Earlier models had a 10 amp circuit breaker that tied into the + cable wiring after passing the battery for allowing main power to dash, starter, lights.Once you get it running check that the battery is receiving around 14 volts or so above idle. If not it's usually a faulty regulator.

Not always. Some models had extra wiring on the battery for sealed breakers for rear lights, rear auxiliary plug on these older ones. Many had just the +/- cables. What year and model and I can locate a manual with wiring diagram if you want one or don't already have one.
