You will also notice a little improvement in performance after break in. Change you oil around 25 hours and by then the gas should improve.

Oil change requires synthetic oil. You can save money by using Mobil1 and Wix filters over the Polaris items. Us Polaris oils when serviing the other components (differential and transmission).

A number in the high thirties was mentioned for the 500 ho sportsman against seventeen miles per gallon for a 500 Honda.
The honda is better on gas. The HO is like 20 mpg vs Honda's 25 mpg I ride with a 500 Honda and he can ride as far as me even though he has a smaller 3.7 gal tank vs my 5.25 Tank.

The Honda is 100lb lighter, has a smaller 36mm carb vs the H.O's 40mm and the Honda makes almost 8 hp less then the H.O 27hp vs the H.O's 35hp. The more power a motor makes the more gas it drinks.

I've been taking the sales pitch for granted........on a few points......but never mind. I've bought the bike and I'll keep it until the warranty runs out. It might be a Ranger after that.......

All the best

James
