while tryin to pull rear axle on sportsman 600 pulled the inner cv with the c clip out of the housing now how do i get the remaining part of the axle out of the rear end expensive fix just to replace the prop shaft bearing any help welcome can the joint be put back together bearings and all.

 

I have a slide hammer with a small chain that I wrap around the ale right by the diff, a few wacks with the slide hammer and they come out.

 

Lots of penetrating lube over a few days will help to loosen the C clip thats holds the axel in. Then just tug hard. If you can get a slide hammer to fit that would greeat but for me I just kept tugging and tugging and eventually it just popped out.

 

Thanks guys will i have to get new spring bearing or can i put this one back together are they made to come apart i pulled the bearing out when giving it sharp jerks like the polaris shop manuel said

 

How do you get these damn things back in ( axle with the c clip that is)?

 

rubber hammer or block of wood. add the axel nut tell its flush with the axel threads and pound tell its in............... is what iv done many times.

 

Apply neverseeze to the splines also and you won't have it sticking next time it has to come out. Wish they did that at the factory. Would save a lot of hassle/time!

 

It even says to apply anti seize in the polaris shop manual. Why the factory doesn't is absurd.

I just pulled a rear axle off my 09. I cant imagine how hard it would be to get an axle out of a machine a few years older.

 

I let you know soon I have to change a rear inner boot., sounds like I,m in for a fun time.

Finally got the bearings out had to pull rearend what is the best way to get old fluid out the rear end got water in it also can u put the plunging cv back together or do you you have to buy it that way came apart bearings and all trying to remove shaft
