I think it was an 01- I also had the warn 4x4 disconnect. I think there's a few pics in my albums

yep- that's correct. 1st gear was super low. I don't think any 300fw will snap a front axle-

I not think Honda's super low is geared was as low as my 350 BB with the sub tranny, My 2001 450 Foreman 1st gear felt the same as my 1st gear on my Big bear even when it was in high range and not nearly as low as when it was in low,1st range or even in 2nd low.

Most manufacturers got rid of the Sub tranny ,for cost saving there one exspensive tranny. The old Suzuki KQ300 went one more, they had a low range and a ultra low range for diff lock use, making it a 15 speed tranny.

Its all about gearing, My friends 50hp 2wd Massey tractor, can out pull his 300hp Ram pickup even when is in 4 low.

Of all the MFG Hp ratings the 650 Can-Am impresses me the most!

Yes Can AM sure puts the power to there Smaller motors,40 hp out of a 500 is impressive also.

I think CAN AM does not hold back as much on there ATVs and uses there Ski-doo snowmobile motor tricks in there atvs.

They all could do it, Yamaha has a 80hp 500cc twin 4stoke in there Venture lite.2010 Yamaha Venture Lite Review

I had a Polaris Indy 500 twin that only pushed 65hp and it was even a 2 stroke not a 4stroke!

Yamaha could make a 500 Grizzly/Wolverine with more power than a 800 Can AM if they wanted.

But then Yamaha would start a ATV hp war with Arctic Cat,Can-AM,and Polaris like they have going on with sleds and people would start getting killed.

I agree sometimes longevity ad safety take precedence over HP wars!
