2001 Trailboss oil change and maintenance
i need to do some maintenance on this bike, mainly the fluids.
What kind of oil should I use for the engine and gear case?
Is there a filter for the gear case or just the engine?
Anywhere I can download a free service manual? Funds are kind of tight

Hey there...
Engine oil - around 2 liters of 0w40SH full synthetic (Mobil 1, Amsoil, Polaris PS4SS) Polaris uses low weight oil like 0w-40 and 2w-50 to get oil to the cam quickly on cold starts. – I put in 15w50 Mobil1 to try and buffet the rod/piston noise that my engine has. The "50" is the important part of the number for high temp. running in the bush.
Trans.(gear case) – 400 ml. of 75 - 80 weight full synthetic chain case oil. ( Polaris AGL, Amsoil chain case lube.) No filter here.
Oil filter at dealer is $13.99 (or Kralinator L358)
I have a Parts manual on a PDF file and can send it to you if I can figure out how to do it. It is very helpful in figuring things out.
