Why did you buy a Polaris
#31
I had a Suzuki Quad Sport back in 1985, a Kawasaki KDX 250 in 1982. I have been away from dirt bikes and quads since about 1990. I learned about Polaris sometime after this and always thought highly of them. I couple friends ad them and I was even more impressed. mental note was if I ever bought one I would first look at Kawasaki but likely buy a Polaris...
I did and I did.

I bought my first ATV just a couple of years back, and I had no experience with them before buying my first one. I think the reason I bought a Polaris was because I saw them as the leader in the ATV field. The few people I knew that had ATV's, mostly owned Polaris. I am very happy so far.

I was looking for a 2 up machine because of the new laws. Never owned a quad before. My brother had bought a outlander and while shopping we looked at the X2 and the touring. I just loved the versatility of the X2 and since polaris is the only ones who make such a quad that is what I ended up buying. I went out to the desert for New Years weekend. We arrived unloaded and the first thing I did was drive around the dez amassing boulders for the fire ring. I cannot speak for reliability as I have not owned it long enough. Design wise it is the best thing for me. I am surprised other manufacturers have not come out with something similar.

When I bought my first ATV I wanted an automatic, true 4x4, IRS, and made in America. That pretty much narrowed it down to a Sportsman 400 or 500. I wanted a 4-stroke so I got the 500. When it was time to replace it I got another 500, then another, and another. I'm happy with the power, durability, ground clearance, and smooth ride.

Bought an 03 330 for 330 bucks. Fixed it and gave it to the kids for Christmas. Since then I've bought two trailers, 3 400's(all with broken pistons), a 250 and fixed them all up mechanically sound. We may not be riding the latest and greatest machines out there, but we all have a machine to ride and no payments!!!
Oh yeah, worked at a Polaris dealership for 15 years so I had all the parts, tech info, and special tools needed to fix them(and until I quit my job, I got parts at a little over cost)

When I went shopping for my first Quad, I didn't want a used one (wanted to know its entire history) so I made a list.....
1. I wanted a comfortable ride (long trail rides and using it on the street here in Wyoming for driving to work and the store among other places)
2. I wanted a large one, I'm 6'3" 300lbs
3. I wanted fairly powerful but not too expensive.
3. I didn't want a BIG bore since I was learning and didn't have cash to burn but strong enough to carry my fat ***.
4. I wanted a local dealer that was the same brand as my brand and a good rep.
5. Finally the best look and feel.
The Brute was powerful but not comfortable and no EPS,
the griz was smooth but too small, Suzuki no local dealer and no EPS,
Honda reliable but boring & no power,
Arctic cat no local dealer no EPS,
and the outlander loved it but too expensive.
The XP 550 EPS was the balance of all of them. Great price (talked him down to 6999 and had him throw in some extras), great dealer, felt very comfortable, good power, I was worried about reliability (but got a 3 yr warranty and it will be paid off by then and will do all the preventive maintenance) and it just looks amazing and those 14" rims!!!
