Default ADC on/off switch

My 07 does not have the option for ADC. It's either on with AWD or off in 2WD. I'd like to put a toggle switch in so that I can be in AWD without the ADC. Does anyone know how to do this?

Could you get a switch off an 08, and do it that way??

I probably could, but I remember reading on here some time ago a way to hook a toggle up in the headlamp pod to eliminate the ADC when not wanted. It was a pretty simple fix for next to nothing. I was going to do it a long time ago but never got around to it, and yesterday riding in some technical stuff I remembered why I wanted to do it in the first place.

I've been searching for nearly 2 hours with no luck.

OK I've sat down and done some reading in my service manual and this is what I've come up with. The ADC is powered /active with a 12Vdc via 4x4 switch. The ADC remains off/standby until certain conditions apply. (under 15mph,tps at idle and so on) Once the ADC is needed the ECU engages it by grounding the coil hence making it live. So if my thinking is correct, If I break the ground wire feeding to the ADC coil and route it to a toggle on the headlamp. I am basically blocking the ECU's ability to energize the ADC coil (toggle in off position) leaving it non functional. Can anyone verify my thinking on this? Can anyone think of pit falls from doing this? I would think the later models with selectable ADC would be set up in a similar fashion.

OK guy's, I put my theory to the test and it works beautifully.(So simple a caveman could do it) I'll describe how for the guy's with the 07's w/ADC in the event they would like this option for their quads.
What is needed:
8'-10' of 18 gauge automotive wire
2 weather proof/heat shrink butt connectors
2 female spade connectors
1 toggle switch (your choice style)
zip ties where ever you think it's needed
And I recommend wire loom or at least black tape around the new wires for protection.

To start, Locate the connector running to the front diff. On this connector you'll have 4 wires. Two running to the hub coil and two running to the ADC coil. Locate the ground wire (brown) running to the ADC coil and snip it about two inches above the plug. Connect the butt connectors and new wire to the brown wire you have snipped. (see picture) Next run your new wire up to headlamp pod or where ever you have decided to install a toggle. At the toggle it should be pretty self explanatory. Very easy job and cost less than $10 to do.

READY MIXER 169,
Ihave an 07 ,and i realize the newer models have a 3 way switch.May i ask what advantages of the awd without adc?Im assuming its so when your in awd and under 15 mph,it doesnt brake so aggressive ???Thanks for the mod in case i decide to do it.By the way ,i noticed you have an 02 magnum,i do also, grey one,WILL NEVER SELL THAT BIKE,was my first.

I've found out the hard way that some times when riding in technical situations where you would need to roll off/or over an obstacle or an undercut hill quickly but controlled (via brake) the ADC can be a pain. I've had a few times where I've popped over something and needed to let off the throttle quickly and nearly go over the bars. I'm not sure how aggressive your guy's ADC is but mine will all but stop you on the steepest of grades. Another reason I wanted this option is because I do ride alot of slow muddy trails so the AWD stays on when in these areas and it can become an annoyance every time you let off the throttle. But that doesn't mean I dislike the ADC. I love it when it's the right time and place for it. And yes I still have the Magnum. It was my first polaris and I'll have a hard time parting with it if that day ever comes. That thing has been a tank! My wife rides it now and she loves it. Besides a new thermister switch and one hub seal, it has been the little engine that could.
