Default Warn winch help

Hey Guys,
Looking for a little help installing a WARN XT25 on my 2010’ Polaris 550XP. I’ve done pretty well thus far, but have one question regarding the wires coming off the rocker switch. No issues with the two large connections, as I know they attach to the contactor, mounted on the frame near the radiator. My main question is where to splice the 20g red wire coming off of the wires coming out of the rocker switch?

The book says to “Splice the end of the red 20ga wire to a key controlled, fused, accessory circuit (powerpoint) of the ATV (use the provided wire splice). Using a test light, locate a suitable wire from the ATV key switch. The wire should only have power when the key is in the "ON" position.”

There are four wires coming out of the ignition piece that are colored 1. red/white 2. red/black 3. orange and 4. white/red. Looking at a wire diagram in a service manual, I would guess that either the red/white, red/black, or orange wire will work. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Also, when it comes to splicing, I intend to splice both wires together right next to the ignition piece. Are there any issues with splicing it there?

Appreciate the help gents J

Cheers,
JG

i do not have an xp. but the orange wire sounds like the correct wire to splice on. iv also read on prior posts that there should be a wire or 2 that are termanation with a wire connector female end thats under the headlight pod. thats what id connect to. and that what i connected to on my 08 sp 500.

I read something similiar as well but can't find the wire connectors under the pod. I'll take another look in the morning. Thanks for the reply!
