i have a 2004 sportsman 700 EFI. recently began skipping or bogging down when given throttle. when brought back to idle it will skip for a while and then resume normal operation. i have replaced the twin coil pack, plug wires, and plugs. still same problem. i can unplug the left plug wire and skipping continues. if i unplug the right wire instead of the left the engine dies. any suggestions, i had a ride planned in a week and thought the new coil etc. would fix my issue

 

when you unplugged the plug wire and it was still skipping did you check to see if the plug was firing? did you replace the plug cap when you rplaced the wires? sometimes caps willl do that.

 

yes it was firing, and aren't the caps built onto the plug wires?

 

w/out looking i 'm not sure. if they will unscrew then you can replace them. did you replace them w/ the new wires?

 

replaced the whole plug wire assembly....from the coil to the plug. the old coil did not seem to be putting out enough fire so we thought the coil pack was getting weak
