There was quite a few things that got updated on the 400 500 and 800 right??? I thought they moved the radiator up and the winch location down... the newer trans... the front end was redesigned... But I hate the fact they went with the 489 tires!!! Why did they ever get away from the PXT's they were running on the 05's

I find on the 500, Polaris made them cheaper later on for cost saving. On this link http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/en...e1=2172&go2=Go A 2001 retailed for $7000 but in 2010 they retailed for $6000.

Things Polaris did to cut cost was, make EBS optional, give them much smaller gas tanks,a single diff Hillary rather than twin hub hilliary. Plastic oil tank rather then alloy oil tank with air fins. Not sure if square tube A arms were cheaper to produce then round tubing.

Correct the PXT's made by Carlisle. They are sold as Carlisle "wetlands" they are a great tire, no question asked. Still running the stock set on my 2005 sportsman 700 with over 3300 miles

The front end of the 500 looks cheap like a Sportsman 90.

It is a VALUE model. That is the point. They have the XP look to them.

Priced a 2011 400HO - $6,400 plus 13% tax and finance charges - that will be the one I get come spring. They went up a little, compared to the 10 model, but full size chassis, and that sweet XP CVT is well worth it.

I would take a Suzuki 400 King Quad over a 400 HO any day of the week.
