Default Winches

Anybody ever heard of an Xtreme winch or a Viper winch. I am looking to put one on my new 4 wheeler.

I've heard good and bad on them. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Save your money up and buy a Warn. Just my 2 cents

I've heard mostly bad things about the Viper. I'd go with a Warn too.

Go with the Warn Extreme series if your looking at a hard working winch with a synthetic rope. Lifetime drive-line warranty...You just cant beat them. We have the XT and RT series. Good luck with your decision!!

I just put winches on my sportsman's (actually the second one just came in today). I hadn't heard anything about them but i was leary. I ended up on ebay I bought a polaris warn combo 2.5ci (2500lbs) with sportsman mount for 200.00 plus shipping and I just bought a Warn RT25 (2500lbs) for $225 for the second one. I had to buy the mount at my local dealer cost me around 40.00 for both pieces. I don't know which one works better but i doubt i will be able to tell the difference. buy the way the RT25 is a lifetime warranty too.
good luck.
I didn't want a cheap winch failing me when I needed it. that is kind of like buying a cheap parachute

Cheap Parachute? Hmmmm! But think of the money you save, IF it opens. LOL

I put a KFI 3000lb on my 500 Touring earlier this year and its worked flawlessly. It only has a 1 year warranty, but it was a considerable savings over the Warn and I got the model specific mount and the winch in a combo kit through their website. As for getting what you pay for, I find that sometimes middle of the pack pricing is better than paying an extra $150 - $200 for a name. So far, my reasonably priced parachute has opened everytime!
