Default ETC switch question???

Quick question, does the ETC switch kill the engine completely or just govern the throttle down.

On the sleds it is important to have due to the fact if the cable is hung up BEFORE starting the machine........It will not take off without you on it!
I had a cable fray inside the cable housing on a late 80's Yamaha Exciter 570 before and it was scary when letting off the throttle and the speed did not slow down.........The ETC did not help in this case.........Caper........

etc switch will shut the engine off if the throttle cable either sticks or dont move freely when either driving or starting the wheeler. there is a small switch inside the black throttle case if you take the cover off. the black wire will ground it self out to the brown wire and shut the engine down when contact is made.
