Default 1997 Explorer - Fuel Filter & backfire

First, I want to replace the fuel filter on my '97 Polaris Explorer but there are no part numbers anywhere that tells me what to get. Any suggestions on how to pick the right one out of the million types that there are?

Second, my explorer runs fairly well except when I let go of the throttle it acts like its backfiring (small backfires) as it decelerates. Is this normal or should I do some adjusting on the carburator? If so can anybody help me on where I should start adjusting?

Is it a 300, 400, or 500?

If you go to bikebandit.com they should have a breakdown of all the fuel parts for your bike.

backfiring is common on quads, it has to do with a lean pilot circuit .
You can back out the fuel screw 1/4 turn at a time until its gone or you could install a larger pilot jet.
