Default Lift Kit Question

Hello,

I have a 2004 sportsman 500. I recently watched a video on youtube on how to put in a 2 inch lift kit on this atv. The lift kit is fairly inexpensive and it looked easy enough to do myself.

My only concern/question is will the change in the suspension, lift kit negatively affect any of the other components on the machine - Yokes, driveshaft, etc???

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

2" won't affect much. May wear out cv's sooner because of the increased angle. Best bet once that happens is to upgrade to gorilla or turner axles. Had 2" on my 02 700 with bigger tires and never had to replace anything while I had it and that thing got abused every time I was on it.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt think that little bit would make a big difference. Being that you had it on one of your past wheelers, did you notice it helped with performance, or was it mainly looks?

p.s. Seen the photos of your mudster. That thing is awesome.

A lift will give you more ground clearance and adding bigger tires gives even more. Helps clearing ruts, rocks, etc that you normally will drag or get caught up on. Also means if you get stuck you are even deeper but that's half the fun:-) Thanks for the comments on the mudster. Can't believe it hasn't sold yet but no one is willing to pony up the $ which can be expected in our crappy economy. Hoping it goes soon so I can replace the girlfriend's stock 800 I recently sold to buy a new RZR. I'd keep it for her to ride but she doesn't care for the lift and pipes so I assured her I'd either trade it for a stock one plus cash or buy another one if it sells outright.
