Default oil thermister testing

I have a 2000 magnum 325. The oil cooler fan will not run. I have put 12v strait to the fan runs ok. I have taken 200degree water and put thermistor in reads open never changes resistance. Is this a reliable way to test the thermistor? Proplem is Do not know if the fault is the thermistor or the LR60 box?

Thanks in advance.

There are resistance readings on the thermister when cold and when hot,you can do a simple check with a hair dryer and ohm meter! Check ohms cold and heat up sensor at oil tank and resistance should slowly begin to change. But if you have already checked the sensor and resistance changes, you might check for the sealed thermal fuse in the plastic pouch for corrosion. If the thermistor faults, (shorted out, no readings,) the fan usually stays on! I believe there is a sealed thermal fuse on the 325,can't remember off hand?? Lr60 could be bad,but problems usually else where. OPT
