Default Tensioner problems!

Hey guys, I have a 03 and 06 Predators. I love these Quads but my 06 has always been a lil noisy in the top end and just recently jumpped timeing. The shop manual is kind foggy on how to ajust the tensioner and i was told to crank it tight (counterclockwise) till tight and it will self ajust from there??? Well i did that and all was good but i took it for a test ride and the top end is still noisy other than that it seams to run good. So did I ajust wrong or something or is that normal cause my 03 sounds much better in the top end. Or should i just get a manual tensioner and be done with it? I love my 06 and wanna ride, what should I do guys???
