Default oil tank

So went riding on my new 400 ho sportsman, low and behold looked down and seen like oil in the water coming from the bike so i took it out of the water and checked and well pulled the dipstick and its atleast 8 oz low oil coming from the PLASTIC oil resevoir im jacked aint even broke in yet only 8.1 hours on the bike less than 100 miles. Now i went and bought the extended warranty so my question is should this be covered under the main warranty or are they gonna try and tell me it is my fault. I take real good care of my stuff and I want them to check the whole engine over this is bs im so freakn mad

Wash it up real good so it is not hanging mud all over the place. Take it to the dealer and I am sure they will just find a fault in the tank and replace it under the regular (it won't cost you ) warranty. Anthing else with that low of hours and miles it shoudl be a no brainer. At worst it will cost you the $50 deductible but I am sure it is a factory flaw and any dealer worth his salt will look after it for you.

Let us know how it goes. The good thing is that you seen it before it ran out of oil and hurt anything.

Polaris really screwed up when they switched from the alloy oil tanks to the cheap plastic oil tanks. Cost saving reason I guess. Go on ebay and see if you can get the old alloy tank and bolt in on.

Heres what they use to look like when they where Aluminum Alloy. They even had fins to help cool the oil.

I have heard of sticks and branches poking holes in the newer Plastic oil tanks. These motors are dry sump motors, the oil is not carried in the motor's crank case like a wet sump, it just dump to have the motor's oil supply held in a plastic container on a off road vehicle.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and they said I would have to take my bike there and let them see it and submit it to warranty and see if they will cover it I dont see why they would even question it was looking at the bike again today and its cracked on the lower part on the inside of the tank like near the motor absolutly no way from like a stick or anything fromw here its cracked but I will say they really put the tank in the open with not much to gaurd it
