I'm new here and could use some help with a 2005 polaris sportsman 800 EFI, my first stupid question is how do you tell when it was built? I'm trying to buy some new plastics, rear cab and the site needs to know if it was built pre 7-28 of 04 or after.

 

Howdy spitsfire.......go to the right front tire as if to remove it.....look above the tire......and to the right of the front spring, there's some plastic near the side of the radiator, the number should be there......NoJoke

 

the dom used to be on the sticker under the headlight pod on the plastic if it's still there. you could have a dealer runthe vin # to see when it was mfged.

 

Look behind the left front tire sitting on the bike the vin# will be stamped into the lower frame rail, sometimes you have to clean it lightly sand paper and brakeclean to get it to where you can see it well, take vin#s and letters to your dealer and they can tell you the history of the bike, done it many times.
