Default Dead Battery - Safe to Jump Start?

Went to start up the ATV in the today and the battery is dead, no lights or anything. Hooked up to Battery Tender Jr., but the battery is still charging after 6 hours and only 7V on the multimeter. Will check it again tomorrow, but I am getting impatience. As a last resort, would it be safe to jump start using my tractor? I am afraid damage could be done by doing this, with the electronics and all and I don't want to fry anything. Any comments appreciated.

Thanks

probably ok to jump but never a good idea to run your machine for long with a dead battery vey hard on the stator and they are very expensive

If I need to replace the battery, which brand should I go with? I want something that's better than the stock one, something more heavy duty. Was thinking about Optima, but not sure if they make them for ATV's.

I'm pretty sure Optima makes them for quads...I have an Odyssey dry cell...Very good battery....But that's my choice...some guys swear by Walmart batteries...

Pretty sure optima has a battery for you and heard good things about the odyssey's. Your best bet is to keep a trickle charger on it when not riding, especially if it sits for a while. Still had the oem battery going strong in my 05 800 after almost 5 years of MN winters using one. I get mine at Harbor Freight. They're under $10 so I have enough to keep one on all my rides.

My friend dropped of a bigger charger tonight. 2 settings on it - 2a and 10a. Would this be okay to try. Again, I'm afraid of frying something.

Thanks

Use the 2 amp setting. Wouldn't recommend running 10 amps on such a small battery.

I've used the 10amp setting and had no problems, though 2amp is the better setting, just takes longer.
