Default Polaris gear box noise

I have two 1996 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4. Both have gear box noise, one howls like a banshee & the other is just starting to make noise. Could it be the chain inside or the hard faceing on the gears or something else . They don`t have any oil leaks & no play in the sharfts.

Your talking about the tranny right? have you changed the oil in it? I dont use the Polaris oil in mine I use Castrol Syntec 5w 30 Might try it and see if it quiets down

G`day. I`ve changed the oil a few times. still noisey. One is so noisey you can hardly here the motor running . It`s something inside the tranny [gearbox]. I`m in Australia.

those transmissions are notorious for the silent chain goin bad in em, my guess is thats your problem. hate it when a silent chain is no longer silent
