Help with override switch troubleshooting
Good afternoon everyone. I have spent the last 2 days looking over this forum on everything I could fine on the override switch. I've learned a lot about my 4-wheeler and plan on spending an extra day to find the 4 missing grease fittings that I missed when doing a tune-up on my machine last summer. I’m still
The other day I went to use the override button when backing up and it didn’t work. I was stuck in the snow bank for about 5 minuets. My guess is...
The switch is bad.
The wire to and from the switch are messed up.
The components that feed power or signals to the override switch are bad....
Lose connections to and from the switch to other components…
And I'm sure a bunch of other things are probably messed up to...
Can you guys tell me (or YouTube) show me how to check all the components that might cause the override switch to stop working?
And how to fix the problem?
Also...
I have no idea what other items I should be looking at when trying to fix this problem. I’m a total greenhorn with this wheeler. If anyone has pictures, please post them as well.
I have a 1997 Polaris sportsman 500.
Thanks
Bill

I by-passed that on my 97-425, take the front cover off and find the control panel with all the wires going to it, unplug the grey orange wire, make a note of where it came from , tape up the end, now find a purple wire and splice it into grey-white wire you should have no speed limiter in reverse and awd anytime the awd switch is on. Its a good thing I write stuff down cause I did that like12 years ago still workin fine
