Default Fan thru radiator on 95 Xplorer while plowing....WTH happened?

Was plowing snow last saturday and all of a sudden i noticed steam...looked and saw fan somehow or another got bent into the radiator...got it fixed now, but what would have caused this to happen?...Only thing I could think of was that snow or ice chunk got in there which is next to impossible...only other thing I thought about was torque on the frame, but that much???...Just wanna know so it doesnt happen again...sucks to get at!

I was thinking maybe the frame got tweaked. Tough to do on a Polaris though. The other thought was the same as yours, that a chunk of ice somehow got up in there.

if it happens again ,you may want to get a universal fan that mounts thru the radiator. get a 10 incher , there is plenty of room

You could have had a bearning let go then causing the damage on the rad.
Or maybe the fan came apart from the shaft

Well i got the radiator back and got fan straightened out on press at work...now tonite when I got home I checked to make sure mount was tight and it was and tweaked around on frame and everything feels solid and I also checked for wobble in the motor bearing and there isnt anything real noticable...(by the way I just had the one blade hit radiator to clarify things) now Im kinda leaning towards new style plastic fan...any thoughts on these?....I noticed there is some type of bushing also needed for these or is that the bushing that is already on motor?...Just really trying to make up my mind before we get another blast of snow!...Any feedback would be much appreciated!...Thanks!

I bought a fan from here. SPAL USA I got the 9" model 30100521 it was a straight bolt on. They make larger and smaller fans as well.

Thanks TLC, but as far as I can tell there isnt anything wrong with my motor..therefore no need to buy a motor and from what I saw on their site..there are none that look remotely close to mine!..what r your thoughts on what caused it?

Not sure How it happen but likly happened while in reverse to bend the fan blade towards the rad. Almost impossible hit the rad let alone fan while in foward.

Ya makes sense..my thought was that I maybe kicked a stick up with back tire and shoved that in there!...So if it was a bearing issue it would have kinda rubbed a bigger area on radiator..wouldnt it?...Pretty sure it was just a freak deal...Can the fan only go on 1 way and still have clearance?

Thanks for all the ideas guys!....Found the dam culprit though...a 1 inch stick with a nice bend on one end and a freshly chopped off opposite end...YEP pretty sure that was the culprit lol!
