Polaris oil question

Thats what I think also, even if the oil is 2w-50 ,its so close to common 0w-40 in its weight viscosity I can see why that would hurt. Its like they made this odd ball weight up to get people to only buy Polaris oil.

Polaris says to use this weight and nothing else,but my Yamaha and Honda manuals say to go from 5w-40 anywhere to 20w-40 depending on climate temperature range chart.

Why not just use 0w-40 and it covers the entire tempature range instead of switching form summer grade to winter grade.

The report I read said that after 40 hours it really starts to lose what good quality it has.

The only way it goes into a machine I service is if the owner brings it to me and insists that I use it.
