could this be true?

CajunDuckman,
The list of mods looks impressive. I would love to see some pics. Got any?
How does the machine run with the 0.030 shaved head? Still use pump gas? I have been considering a 0.020 shave myself on the Blazer.

63 mph and all i have is a k&n filter.
sure, that's what my speedo said, but it's awfully close i know. i've passed cars on the highway. pavement vs dirt or gravel or snowpack makes a HUGE difference. don't believe me? too bad.

Hey Lurch. I have some pictures, but I don't have them downloaded to my computer. I may try and take some digital pix this weekend.
As far as head shaving, take my word for it, get the piston changed at the same time you do the head shaving. I didn't, and 5 hours of riding with the shaved head I blew the piston skirts into about a billion pieces. A few of those pieces busted a couple holes in my crank. That is why I have many of the mods I have. I had to tear the motor completely apart (actually the best thing I could've ever done).
As far as fuel, I mix 40% 107 octane and 60% 93 octane to give me a rating of about 100. Plus the 93 has some detergent additives that help to keep from scoring the cylinder walls. High octane fuel has a tendency to be "dry." I also premix my oil and gas and I use Maxima Castor 927 exclusively.
If you have any further questions, shoot me an email @ cajunduckman@refugemail.com. I can't be givin' everyone all my secrets, hehe.

I believe the speedo could have said that, as I have been on non-HO machines that could push an indicated 60. I don't know how accurate the speedo is, though. On some machines they seem very close, and others are way off. I don't know if it varies more from model to model or year to year. I can say my '99 Xplorer speedo seems better calibrated than on my brother's '97 Xpress.

The accuracy of your speedo has to do with the tires you ride, how new they are, and most importantly, the amount of air in them. About the only way to calibrate your speedo would be to get a radar gun and dial in your speedo with different air pressures. I think the speedos are actually pretty accurate... it is the tire pressures/diameters that aren't.
