Default 2010 Sportsman Touring 850 EPS

I am looking at a quad for myself and son. I am thinking of the 850 eps for me..My local dealer has 2010 for $8,799.00 new. Is this a good deal and is this the right choice? Also, I have a 12 yr old son and I'm thinking of a 2010 Phoenix 200 for him. for $2,899.00..Is Polaris the right choice? Help me out..

Try find a 2010 Sportsman 400 for the boy. Be perfect for him and will last him a long time.

Phoenix is a great starter quad. With the automatic transmission it's very user friendly. Good to learn the basics on. That is a good deal on the 850 with power steering. I don't think you'll ever need more power than that has. I would also sign up for an ATV class for both of you if you haven't already gone through one. When you buy quads new the makers usually give you a voucher for free gear if you take the class.

If that price is an XP 850 Touring with EPS it is a fair price, if it is a standard XP 850 with EPS there are better deals to be had as that is what 2011's are going for. I wouldn't pay over $8000 for a carry over...... and $8k is on the high end.

That's a fair price on the 2010 Touring 850. Local dealers are selling the 2011's (Red or Blue) for $9299

Their are some differences that I am aware of for 2011 vs 2010 models in the Touring. For 2011 a larger fuel tank (5.25 gallon vs 4.5 gallon), improved clutching, 2011's have Lock and Ride removable handles for the 2-up seat, Rear suspension has been tweaked to better handle a passenger, Tachometer has been changed so you can see both MPH and RPM's at the same time.......

These are the changes I am aware of, there may or may not be more.

The 850 Touring is a awesome machine!!! Both as a two up machine or as a single ridder. But to be honest, I would stay away from the Phoenix... That quad isn't even built by polaris, it's not worth the money. I would look more in to the trail boss or trail blazer
