Default 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI ?

Ok,
Plowing snow with my quad the other day and it started acting up. Everytime I came to a stop it would die. It would always start right back up but if I let off the gas it would die again. When I would rev it up it pops (not quite a backfire). Pulled it in the garage and warmed it up thinking maybe a gas line froze or something plus put some sea foam in the tank. Went back out and the same thing. So I read through the forum for answers. I have checked electrical connections, checked the throttle cable and the connection in the box above the throttle. Next thing the forum led me to was a sensor that sits on top of the intake. This is where I have my question.
This sensor has a piece on it that inserts into the intake. It also has a seal on it. Now, on mine it just sits on it and doesnt have anything putting pressure on it to hold it firm to the intake. All it has is a clip on the intake that somewhat holds it in place. Now I did put pressure on it and started it up and it didnt make any difference. Am I looking in the right direction?
On another note I have noticed a few times it turns over pretty slow. I do have a new battery, and I swapped out the starter with another and it does the same thing.
Any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!!

Oh ya another thing. It doesnt appear to be throwing any codes. At least the check engine light nor the wrench icon comes on when its running. It will stay running when I keep my finger into the throttle but it doesnt run very smooth.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I actually removed that cap and watched to make sure those contacts do not touch when it dies and I have verified they do not. I have also tried to adjust the throttle cable and you really have to increase the rpm's with it in order for it to stay running. Even then it doesnt run right. Thats at approx 3300 rpms

Thanks!!

went back out there today to try it after sitting overnight with some sea foam in the gas. It seems to run a little better. If I keep it at 2500 rpm it will stay running but still sputters and will backfire when I rev it up and let off the gas. Not a little backfire, but a pretty loud pop.
Can these jump timing? Do I need the valves adjusted?

How many hours on the bike? Have you ever adjusted the valves before. Your supposed to adjust/check them every 100 hours. If you have quite a few hours on it and never done this I'd say it's due regardless if this is your problem which it could be. If the valves are really tight (which typically happens over time) the valves will not fully seat through each of the strokes causing issues with idle and overall performance.
