Default Xplorer 300 Top End

The 300 gave up the ghost in the southern snow! Can I get the head and cylinder off without too much trouble or just easier to pull engine?
Thanks in advance!

Yes. It is not bad at all. I highly recomend a Wiseco piston as a replacement because they are forged.

Remove the head bolt, head then slide the barrel up over the piston and off the machine. Cover the bottom end of the machine with shop towels to keep trash out of the exposed engine. Get a pic and remove the wrist pin bearing clips, then push out the used piston (now fancy ash tray). Buy a new wrist pin bearing and piston and ring. I bored the cylinder .010 over and bought the correct size Wiseco piston to match the bore.

Easy job for an A&P.
