my outty will almost toss you over the bars when you let off the gas- feels like a jet ski- took some time getting used to that engine brake. I have to gas it to get down a 50* slope . Everytime I let someone try my outty 800 they always say how they hate it because it just stops when you release the throttle.

That's why I liked my 09 800 the best. Had the option of 4x4 with or without active descent. Made a huge difference once I lifted it and put 32's on. My 05 800 did the same as your outty and it could get hairy with 6" of lift and 29.5's letting off the gas!

get a wife or girlfriend that nags about cost of fuel! otherwise anything you do except maybe a set of radials will suck more gas. I get about 11mpg on trail ride and much worse when mudding.

Compared to snowmobiling I think ATVs are great on gas. 20 mpg vs 14 mpg on my sled.

yea my 150 hp sled gets 14 mpg and i think thats great lol. of course the 10 gallon gas tank is nice too.

yeah but 11mpg is worth it! I know you can't take this sport up and complain about the cost of any part of it. I was just wondering how I could go the extra distance! Thanks for everyones advice!
