Default old gas

I'm having trouble with the 07 Sportsman I bought used the other day.. The guy I bought it from said the 4 wheeler has been sitting and the gas is old.. It idles really rough and has stalled out on my a few times after putting it in gear and hitting the throttle..

I'm planning on removing the old gas, replacing the fuel filter and spark plug.. Should I change anything else while I'm at it??

Thanks..

If still runs rough after fuel change,I would clean the carb,check/replace needle and seat,check/clean main and pilot jets. OPT

Also try some seafoam with your fresh gas. It'll help clean eveything out if it's not too bad.

Take the carb. apart and clean it. Since you're doing everything else might as well so you know it's ready for the long haul.

+1, drain all the gas out of it and put a gallon in mixed with SeaFoam. It might clean it out enough and save you from a tear down. If it doesn't work, just take the carb apart and clean it.

+1 on the seafoam it helps out with the lousy gas we get nowadays.. As far as cleaning the carb goes which everyone suggested they should have asked if you have a carb or FI.. MY 07 is FI not carb. so those suggestions would not help..

Its EFI.. I stopped in at the local Polaris shop on the way home from work.. He told me to drain the gas.. Sold me some stuff they use to mix in the fresh gas to clean the entire fuel system.. also told me to change the plug.. Been searching for 20 minutes from the flippen sparkplug.. haha..

He said I shouldnt need to change the fuel filter.. So I am holding off on that for now..

ok. update.. got all the old gas out.. put the mixture in the shop sold me.. started it up and I could hear the engine start to run smoother.. so I took it down to the local gas station and filled the tank and plowed some snow for a while.. The engine would stall out on me if I put it in gear and hit the throttle really fast.. if I pushed really slow it wouldnt stall and take off great.. I plowed snow for about 2 hours and it stalled on me about 6 times..

Anyone know where the plug is located for sure?? I called the guy I bought the 4 wheeler from and he thought it was right under the fuel tank.. I would really hate to take the tank off and find its not there..

Thanks..

it is under the tank but u don't need to remove it to get to the plug, i would say replacing the plug would cure it though.
