I know this topic comes up alot but I'm finally ready to upgrade my tires. I don't want rubbing issues but need some good all around tires that work good in Mud & snow as well. I'm think ITP Mudlites XTR (XL or XTR ?) or Maxis Bighorns.

I have the 14" aluminum rims; wheels 26x8x14 (F), AT26x10x14 (R). Is it better to get new, smaller Rims?

I have tested quite a few tires over the years. My favorite so far have been the GBC Grim Reapers. Take a look at them. Stick with the stock 26" Our last snow fall we had 24 inches and the reapers got the job done. I now have over 1K miles on them and they still look like new. They are 8 ply also.

Thanks - those look pretty sweet. The 27" won't work - or not needed? BTW - I bent the p!@# out of my GCII Plow bracket the other day. Now my buddies cutting and rewelding it for me. Did you have yours reinforced with anything? I would recommend it!

I know someone out there has another tire for me to consider???

 

I;ll 2nd what THOR said about the Grim Reapers. Great tire for purposes stated.

 

Get a better plow!!! I cant stand the G2 system. JUNK. I sold my Warn customer that had a 911. I had it in the shop and installed if for the storm. When more arrive I will go back to the Warn or American Eagle.

 

That's why I'm asking the Pro's! What about the XTR's or the Pit Bulls? If I go with the 27" tire, do I need a lift?

 

I have 9x27x14 swamplights on the front, 11x27x14 swamplights on the back of my 09-850xp, on stock wheels and no clearance ,or rubbing issues at all, the 12 inch wide tires will rub on the sway bar on the rear of the 09s, they changed the sway bar in 10

 

I don't have any need for them on my bike, but if I had a utility with or without 4wd I would give the Interco Swamp Lite's a try... Anybody using them now? The look great and like they wouldn't have much trouble with cleaning out

 

OK - I think I'm gonna go with the GBC but am leaning towards the Spartacus vs. the Grim Reapor's and stick with the 26".
