I was looking at a set of Maxis Mud Bugs and they look like good mudding tires. Has anybody tried these on a SP 500? Are they available in 26" and still fit on the original rims? Are they taller than stock tracker P's.

I have 27" on my Kodiak and Im sure they would fit the SP500. The Mudbugs are a great all around tire. They are not the best for mudding but will perform well in it. They give an excellent ride and are light weight. The will also fit your wheels. Im not sure what the diameter of your wheels are but the Mudbugs only come in 12" wheel size.

they just came out w/ 26x12-10, yes they are a little better in the mud than mudrunners, and a good price too

Do they have a rough ride in hardpack? Someone else posted that they are rough on hardpack trails, and vibrate you pretty good.

That is not true "atleast to me". I run 7psi in my Mudbugs and they ride great on hardpack. Only place they ride rough is 1 to 3mph on concrete or asphalt. "Who" rides like that? Thats great that Maxxis came out with new wheel sizes. They will be selling a lot more Mudbugs now.

I have had 26 inch mudbugs for about a year. They ride good on dirt trails. they are only terrible on pavement. We are not suposed to be on pavement in the first place. My 26's are for 12 inch rims. but if they make them now for 10 inch rims then your ok. I have purchased 27 inch mud bugs and they are being put on now. Got the atv in this saturday. I think the mud bugs are pretty good in mud. I noticed in a magazine that maxxis has come
out with a mudzillia atv tire. You might want to check it out before you purchase something. My mudbugs hold up very well as a 6ply tire. I noticed that some of my friends with mud runners are loosing there lug tred pretty fast. the mudbugs however, wear very slow. THey should last quite a few years. I am happy with my mudbugs. I am anxious to pick up my atv sat. comming with the
27 inch mudbugs. 27x10x12 in the front and 27x12x12 in the rear. I had 26x10x12 and 26x12x12 previously. I will be selling them if my 27 inch tire experiment works out well? I have to take the
atv for a few rides to see how they go. I have highlifthers progressive lift heavy duty front springs with cams in the front. I hope my front fender rubbing is minimual? I do not want to put on a lift kit in the front. I am adding 2 washers on all the front tire lug bolts for spacers. I plan to go atv riding this saturday then with them
on. rangerchet

Thanks for the responses, good info.
This may sound stupid but how tall are the 26" Mud Bugs. I have heard from many people that the tire sizes do not reflect the actual size printed on the tire. My objective was to gain 1/2" more ground clearance, a larger footprint and of course a better mud tire than the stock Tracker Ps.

26' mud bugs measure about 25.5' with 5 lbs of air. The 27's are a true 27', but they have a lower lug height than the 26's.
