I haven't seen any oil in my airbox. I do need to get the updated PCV though.

Default 2011 Polaris 850 oil in the airbox

I am in Arizona and know of 3 new 850's blowing oil through the PVC valve. Took two machines to RideNow in Goodyear, AZ and they had never experienced the problem. However, they contacted Polaris who told them to remove the PVC valve and check the plate for warpage and reassemble being careful to grease the o-ring. They replaced the airfilters and covers free of charge due to being ruined from excessive oil. Unfortunately this didn't fix the problem and they will be returned to the dealer this week for further evaluation. The third bike was taken to another dealer and they supposedly have a fix for the situation and parts are on order....under warranty. Will advise when we know the fix. We've owned all models of Polaris for the past 15 yrs and never experienced anything like this.

I have the 2011 850 HO 2 up and I have had the bike in the shop 5 times in the past 6 months

Default Fix for 2011 Polaris 850 oil in airbox

JC....I feel yours and everyone else's pain about the oil in the airbox issue. I've owned Polaris machines for 15+ yrs and always had good luck and am puzzled why the mfg. hasn't listed a recall on this issue. After some arm twisting I and several others with the same problem convinced the dealer to come up with a fix. Polaris has an internal bulletin on this where they list an "updated breather kit". It is PN 2204755, Desc....Kit-850 Breather. I'm pretty sure they revised the labrynth plate. The local dealer performed all work under warranty ....my Case Number was #2385500. Since installed I haven't ruined any more breather filters with oil and everything seems OK. Hope this helps and best of luck.

The problem has been fixed with the 2012 model. The best fix for the problem is to replace your valve cover assembly with a 2012 valve cover assembly. A good dealer will get this done as a warranty item. If you are out of warranty, the parts cost about $150. I have removed the felt filter from the PCV valve on mine and have had no problem since. That cost you nothing but about 15 min. of your time. This works for some, but I guess not everyone has had success with it. Worth a try.
