Question What year Sportsman 500 can I get for about $3,000?

I only want to spend about $3,000 on a used Polaris Sportsman 500.

What year model can I expect for around $3,000? So far from my research, it seems like there are some 2001s or 2002s for around $3,000. If necessary, I could probably go as high as 3,200 if it's a good value.

So I came here to the experts for advice What do you guys think?

Ps. I don't know how big of a factor location is, but if it's of any importance, I live in Northeastern Ohio.

Location is the biggest factor for what I can see. Around here 01' and 02's go from anywhere of 1800 for a lot of miles to 2500. When I see the o4 and 05 they seem to start around 3000 to 400o. Check Cl, the classifieds and local listings on Ebay. Compare it with used from a shop and you might be suprised. I bought a 98 500 that was in great shape and low miles from a local place in Illinois and it was 1800.00
Just research every local avenue available. TonyT

I paid 2800 for my 2001...And of course after I got it I noticed the rear wheels sitting kinda funny (I bought it in february...dark month)...well the bushings had been crushed out of it !! He mentioned he pulled a trailer with it..."okay" I thought...well with the independent suspension all the load goes thru the suspension components...on a straight axle quad the hitch is attached directly to the rear end...thus the load goes straight to the tires...no suspension parts involved...I ended up fabbing my bushings out of 3/4" & 1" brass and copper pipe...much better than the poly it came with....just be aware if the owner tells you "I pulled a trailer with it...it did great !" check the rear suspension bushings...or lack there of.

Look for a clean 2004 or 2005 for around $3K.

remember you can get an '11 for under 6. Lots of people paid a lot more for theirs years ago, and are holding the value at what they paid for it, and not what they are currently worth

You could get a used 2001 Cadillac for $3000.00. Set your standards as high a possible. Used ATV market is flooded, dealers don,t even want them. Leave your offer and phone number and someone will call you back. Never trust a salesman and buyer beware!
