My 2004 sportsman 500 will lose all power everything goes blank on the control panel ,I can simply restart the engine. this happens while I'm moving or when the bike is idling. The problem seems to be getting worse.

Check simple stuff first: battery connections, check that main fuse(20 amp circuit breaker) in plastic pouch has power on each side of pouch(red wire) ,could be the fuse is corroded, shorting out, shutting off power to machine.( Located past battery and starter solenoid ) Plus could check under pod for any bare wires, bad connections, etc,if above items ok.Plus not a bad idea to use dielectric grease on electrical connectors, any where water could be a problem. Hope this helps OPT

Smile Check...

Do you have a key chain for your key? If the key chain is too big it will catch on the tank and move the key just enough to shut you down.

My cousin had this happen and so did I.

Easy fix
