Your knowledge is priceless OPT! Thanks again! it almost feels like it goes better now than it did with pushing the override :) Do I need to cap the wire I pulled off(male round connector)?
By disconnecting the limiter module all it does is allows full power in reverse without having to push the over ride button. They can short out and limit forward or die when you put it in reverse. Thats the main purpose of the reverse limiter module,my opinion they should have never had one! OPT |
How do I post new thread?

I know this is an old thread but I'm working on someone's 1999 Xplorer 400 with the same symptoms and can't seem to find that box. The part that might make this tricky is that someone swapped in a 4 stroke motor and it's got some modifications, I've noticed a few brown ground wires cut for one thing. and I don't know for sure but I think it is a 2001-2002 sportsman 400 motor.

If they swapped all the electronics for the Sportsman 400 engine over, then you wouldn't have the limiter module. The speedometer would have the limiter passing through it. Since you've got it in a 99 Explorer frame I don't know what they might have done on this half breed as far as what they did on the speedo harness. The brown wires are ground wires that they may not have needed.

Help
I have a similar issue. My Xplorer 400 when shifted into reverse sputters and backfires. Is this the same issue?
