05 sportsman 90 wont rev up

My son just brought a Baja Wilderness 250 home that starts and idles perfect. When put into gear it will remain running but will not go much over idle and starts running rough. Stop it and put it back in neutral it runs and revs perfect. Any ideas?

2011 Polaris 90 sportsman won’t rev
My Polaris is doing the same thing won’t rev up. Put a new spark plug in. New Cdi box. New stator and still no change. Cleaned the carburetor too. I am at a loss with this thing. Any help would be appropriated.

issue resolved
Had exactly same issue, throttle body on your right hand, has switch inside, if you release your thumb it will go back to idle, even if cable get stock, so that switch stopped working, and it thinks that switch is always off, follow wiring, and disconnect that plug and short it with screw driver or something, then you will see if that's the issue
I have a 05 sportsman 90 2 stroke that idles perfectly and starts very easy but when you try to rev it up it acts like it has a rev limiter set right above idle, when you rev it up it starts stuttering like it is hitting the rev limiter. the fuel filter has been changed and is full of gas, new spark plug gapped correctly and new spark plug wire boot. I am at a loss and any help would be greatly appreciated
