Default 2005 Polaris ranger carberator question.

Hello everyone, I got a question I was hoping somebody a little more knowledgeable than myself can help me out with. I have a 2005 polaris 500 4x4 single cylinder thats not fuel injected. It has a choke and a carberator. It recently just stopped running, it acts like its not getting any gas to the carberator. My wife was riding it and said it just stopped all of a sudden on her. Had to go and tow it home. The fuel pump works and all the hoses look solid. I'm not really that great a mechanic however. I have a feeling its something simple and dont feel like taking it to the polaris place to get ripped off, and thought maybe some of you could give me some insight on what to check for? A few weeks ago i had a stuck floater I think because there was gas pouring out of the little spout on the bottom. I took the bottom plate off and it seemed to run just fine after that. Any help at all would be appreciated.

sell it and buy an atv with an efi or direct injection

seriously- I would remove the carb and really give it a good cleaning- punch out all the jets, needles and remove all the varnish- get a couple cans of carb cleaner and go to town. be careful not to blow out the floar needle seat- little rubber oring. It's pretty easy and you can do it yourself in a few hours.

If your able to take the carb off,it may just be a simple cleaning of the jets,or replacing the needle and seat(needle valve assembly) Cut be just a fouled spark plug? OPT

ditto on needle and seatand casrb cleaning, does engine oil smell like gas? when carb was leaking it may have put gas into crankase and caused flooding, ditto on a new spark plug too, have you unhooked the fuel line at carb to see if electric pump in tank is working?
