I am lovin you guys reminising about the old times. I had a Honda 250x. Flipped it backwards more that I can remember. Flipped it forward on big bumps cause the 4 inches of suspension travel didnt absorb anything but a soft turd. Rode my buddies 400 scrambler in the trails one day and thought I was on a caddy. Soft ride, lots of power and went through everything. I was HOOKED! Sold the Honda and never looked back. Makes me glad I got my 500 scrammy. Thanks for my memories.

In those days the Polaris was so far ahead of other utility ATVs when it came to the quality of the ride it was amazing.

There are a lot of these old Honda's and others from those days still around and I wind up working on them a lot.

When I ride one through the trails I think back on when I used to think these slow rough riding things were fun to ride.

After just a few minutes my back is hurting and I am ready to take this thing back to the garage.

Everyone who rides a Polaris today should take a 93 Honda TRX 300 or something similar for a long ride on a rough trail. Or worse the same year model Yamaha 250 moto 4. Or a Kaw 400 Bayou.

It will make you appreciate what you have.

Yes Overdrive the old 425 Magnum was a good machine, but you really did have to stay on top of the carb parts OR carry extra plugs! Just seemed to eat up needle and seats, jet needle and needle jets ever so often. I would get em in the shop just pumping out black smoke and exhaust fumes that would nearly strangle you! It was good enough of an engine to be in the first Ranger. But I think like most shops when the 500 Sportsman came out ,that was our"bread and butter",couldn't keep enough on hand! This along with the water craft "craze" from 93- 2000 (biggest years for us) allowed us to build a new shop. NEVER did like working on em,seemed like I was always boring cylinders for the seized ones! Finally relieved in 2003 when they dropped em and concentrated on the atvs and snowmobiles! OPT

I agree. The PWC no matter who made them were a nightmare to work on. I never did learn much about them and I did not want to learn.

I had a marina call me one day wanting me to come and work full time for them on all their rental PWC. They offered me good money but I told them thanks but no thanks.

Worst part was our test tank couldn't reveal all the problems and we had to haul the problem "childs" to lake test em! Fun at first, quickly became a chore! We had a few rental machines come in,more abused than rental cars! Its good you didn't want to learn,I'm trying to forget!!! OPT
