Default 1996 scrambler 400 cc two stroke motor

i think i have fixed the regulator thx to you all for your help. BUT... now the starter is clicking. I have researched some posts on this site, but cant detemine the right method to remove the starter. Some say to remove the clutches and special tools, others say to remove the skid plate underneath etc. What is the proper method to remove this starter on this machine?

Instructions from me would be to remove the clutches, but I have big hands and don't like fighting something! Once the clutches and backing plate's removed, the starter bracket just stares you in the face! Others have gotten the back bolt on the bracket without clutch removal. Just try with clutches on first and decide if you can do it that way! Either way you need to remove the skid plate! Try standing atv on its rear end (BUT secure it) and see if it helps in getting to the starter bracket bolts. OPT
