The spark at bdc will not fire because there is no compression to make the fuel charge ignite.

 

It's called wasted spark.

Sort of like how the efi system first does when you first crank em up. They go into a waste spark,waste fuel management until the ecm receives a negative signal from the t-bap. 800 Sportsman was the worst seems like,would run bad for a few seconds and you would smell how rich it was. Actually retarded timing,etc OPT

 

OPT, do you know if any ATV use an O2..........yet? What about Cats? Were they talking Cats before you retired? I know some bike have Cats on them but what about quads?

What about throttle by wire?

Not in my little world!! I had enough problems keeping em running,wasn't into mods,plus HOPEFULLY they wont get as far as having drive by wire, cats,etc like cars,BUT who knows,like I said before,I'm leaving that to the next SMARTER generation of techs! OPT
