Default 2006 Sawtooth frustration

Sawtooth idles and runs but cuts out bad at top end. Cleaned carb thoroughly, clean air filter, new gas, new plug, new fuel filter , checked exhaust and cleaned. No mods, ridden easy by daughters (< 300 miles). Totally frustrated with machine. Had a history of stalling before this problem. Positive carb and jets are clean. Machine has been major pain since purchased new. If anyone could help with advise , it would be appreciated. Thanks

New plug is all black and appears fuel isn't burning. Starts and idles fine. Thanks

Machine had a 108 main jet like manual said. Went to dealer and they claimed 98 main was called for ( they think manual was wrong). Bought a 100 main and seems to be running better. Anyone with similar experience. A little cautious

We did have a couple "tech bulletins" which were basically "in house" bulletins about the early Phoenix and the Sawtooth. First one was about running lower number (hotter) plugs, plus a bulletin on I believe the Phoenix air box inlet replacement and also later bulletins about "some" that if exhibited rich conditions to rejet. This was not a recall, but should have been. We didn't sell many of either, but did have some that had to be rejetted especially if ridden slow and would foul plugs. Hope this helps, even though you are aware now! OPT
